Redtail best driving themed Christmas films

In this blog post, we want to present you with a list of our favourite Christmas films to get you in the Christmas spirit!  BUT, this list has a bit of a twist; we’ve tried to stick to only travel themed films.

Die Hard

Die Hard

Because yes, this is 100% a CHRISTMAS MOVIE!!!

  • The setting – John McClane’s wife’s company CHRISTMAS PARTY
  • John McClane whistles CHRISTMAS TUNES on his way into the building of his wife’s company
  • The limo driver plays a CHRISTMAS SONG while driving John McClane to visit his wife

What more is there to say except maybe “Yippee-ki-yay”!

The Polar Express

The Polar Express

Definitely one to watch with the whole family, especially if you are a fan of magical train rides (and Tom Hanks!).

Love Actually

Love Actually

This is a lovely, heartwarming film that’s great for all the family to watch.  It’s a bit of a stretch to call it a “travel themed” film, but the film does end at the airport with some really touching scenes of families reuniting!

The Christmas Chronicles

The Christmas Chronicles

This is a great Netflix film that features Kurt Russell as Santa Claus.  The film is about a sister and brother who try to catch Santa Claus on camera to prove he’s real by sneaking into Santa’s sleigh but they cause it to crash.  The siblings end up having to help Santa travel around the city to save Christmas (before it’s too late).

The Holiday

The Holiday

This is a great film to watch if you enjoy the more traditional Christmas romance stories.  It is a story of two women who swap houses for a week over Christmas and the events that unfold while they’re on holiday.

Lethal Weapon

Lethal Weapon

This is another Christmas film for those who prefer action films.  The film is about a pair of newly partnered cops (complete opposites in their nature and approach), who must work together around the city of LA to catch a gang of drug smugglers.

I’ll be home for Christmas

I'll be home for Christmas

This 1998 film follows a college student trying to get home in time for Christmas so that he can have his Dad’s Porsche, it’s a fun watch.

Jingle all the Way

Jingle all the way

It might be a bit of a stretch to add this one to a travel themed Christmas films list but it is about a workaholic father/husband, who often fails to find time for his family, who forgets to get his son a Christmas present.  He ends up scouring the city trying to find the MOST popular kids toy that Christmas with little luck… but things work out in the end.

A word of warning on this one!  This film is generally considered to be VERY BAD but it’s been included because I actually really enjoy this film, and it’s got Arnold Schwarzenegger as the father/husband!

Feel free to add a comment below with your favourite films and opinions on any you think we’ve missed!
